Mahindra became popular because of the Scorpio and Bolero. Even today Bolero is the highest selling Mahindra product. But there was a need of a better SUV than the Scorpio to occupy a larger share of market. Mahindra thought it out nicely and launched the XUV500. It is one of the best looking SUVs in India and maybe the best one which Mahindra has ever made so far.
The cabin of the Mahindra XUV500 W6 feels big enough to seat 7 people easily. The seats are nice and comfortable. The dashboard is nicely finished. The steering wheel feels strong and sporty. The instrument console is very modern and beautiful. It displays more than enough information. There is a different ambiance inside this SUVs cabin. It has automatic climate control and also rear AC vents for the passengers at the rear seat. There is a cigarette lighter, an ash tray and three 12V power outlets.
For an SUV the Mahindra XUV500 W6 handles like a charm. It runs on 235/65 R17 wide tyres which provide good grip on the tarmac. The powerful engine has loads of torque which is necessary for an SUV of its size. At the front there is the McPherson type suspension setup while the rear gets a multi-link type suspension system. It has a ground clearance of 200mm which allows you to take this SUV to most of the places where most sedans cannot go.
The Mahindra XUV500 W6 has been armed with disc brakes on all its four wheels which give a lot of stopping power. It is also armed with ABS and EBD to help the massive disc brakes stop the gigantic SUV. It also has two airbags (driver and co-driver).
